Inspired by Architecture

My is work focused around architectural elements and the shapes and forms found in Art Deco and the cultures that inspire it. I am fascinated by the buildings of Japan and the use structures to frame the surrounding environment. The use of natural, untreated materials of Japanese craft inspires my use of mokume gane to add the appearance of texture. While the colors of Art Deco designs and the gems that pave it’s jewelry, encourage my use of stones.  Both of these movements yearn for perfection and push to see how tedious one can be with craft, which inspires my obsession.
